Trefl Gdańsk claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, securing their first home win of the 2024/25 PlusLiga season in front of an energetic crowd of 3,350 fans at the ERGO ARENA. In a match filled with intense rallies and lead changes, Jakub Czerwiński emerged as the MVP, contributing 20 points and key plays that kept Trefl in contention. The victory lifts spirits in Gdańsk, as the team now looks to carry this momentum into upcoming matches.

A Battle of Momentum Shifts

The match began with Aluron taking a commanding lead, winning the first set 25-18 after a strong showing, particularly from Mateusz Bieniek and Miguel Tavares. Trefl, however, fought back in the second set, securing a 26-24 victory after critical aces from Jakub Jarosz and aggressive net play by Czerwiński, leveling the match and igniting the home crowd. Each team had its moments of dominance, with Aluron pushing ahead in the third set, only for Trefl to respond in the fourth, where precise serves and defense brought the score to 2-2.

Tie-Break Drama and Final Push by Trefl

In the fifth set, Trefl came out strong, with Moustapha M’Baye and Piotr Orczyk scoring crucial points, but Aluron’s Bartosz Kwolek proved difficult to contain. With the score tied late in the set, Trefl’s Czerwiński and M’Baye delivered pivotal blocks and attacks to push their team ahead 13-11. Aluron’s error on serve sealed Trefl’s 15-12 win in the tie-break, giving the home side a memorable victory.

Looking Ahead

Trefl Gdańsk will now travel to face Barkom Każany Lwów and return to the ERGO ARENA on November 9 for a matchup against Asseco Resovia Rzeszów.
