Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Świątek have surpassed tennis legends Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, setting a new record for the most WTA 1000 match wins in a single season. With a combined 58 victories, they have broken the previous record of 57 held by Williams and Sharapova since 2013.
Historic Achievement for Świątek and Sabalenka
In 2013, Williams secured 36 WTA 1000 wins and Sharapova added 21. This season, Świątek has tallied 30 victories, while Sabalenka has contributed 28, pushing them past the record held by two of tennis’ greatest icons. Sabalenka’s recent triumph in Wuhan added to this achievement.
Looking Ahead to More Success
As the WTA season approaches its climax with the WTA Finals, both Sabalenka and Świątek remain in peak form, ready to extend their record and reinforce their place in tennis history.
