Magda Linette’s journey at the WTA Beijing tournament came to an end after a tough fourth-round loss to 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva. Despite a strong performance in the previous round, where Linette defeated Jasmine Paolini in straight sets, she struggled against Andreeva, losing 6-1, 6-3. The defeat was largely due to Linette’s issues with her serve, as she was broken seven times throughout the match.
Linette’s Serve Troubles Cost Her the Match
Linette came into the match after a confident win against Paolini but quickly found herself in trouble. She was broken in the very first game and was unable to capitalize on two break points in the following game. Andreeva continued to dominate, and despite a brief comeback from Linette, the first set ended 6-1 in the Russian teenager’s favor.
A Brief Rally in the Second Set
In the second set, Linette managed an early break, but her serve remained inconsistent. Andreeva swiftly broke back, and Linette lost her service game five more times. Unable to maintain any momentum, Linette bowed out of the tournament as Andreeva advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
