Jastrzębski Węgiel Declines Invitation to Club World Championship

Jastrzębski Węgiel has officially announced that it will not be participating in the 2024 Club World Championship, despite receiving an invitation from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The tournament, set to take place in December in Brazil, will go ahead without the Polish club due to logistical and scheduling challenges.

Invitation and Tournament Overview

Jastrzębski Węgiel, as a finalist of the 2024 Champions League, was invited to compete in the prestigious Club World Championship in Uberlândia, Brazil, scheduled for December 10-15. The tournament would have featured the world’s top volleyball clubs, but the team’s management made the difficult decision to decline the offer.

Logistical and Financial Hurdles

The club cited the high travel costs and logistical difficulties as key reasons for not attending the event. Additionally, the need to reschedule matches in both PlusLiga and the Champions League added extra complications. Club president Adam Gorol thanked the FIVB for the invitation but confirmed that, after careful consideration, the team decided not to participate.
