Magdalena Fręch reaches highest career WTA ranking

Magdalena Fręch Withdraws from WTA 250 Tournament in Osaka

Polish tennis player Magdalena Fręch has reached a new milestone, achieving a career-best ranking of 22nd on the WTA Tour. This advancement follows an impressive season, where Fręch, originally from Łódź, secured her first tournament title in Guadalajara, triumphing over Poland-rooted Olivia Gradecki in the final. Despite an unexpected first-round exit in Tokyo, where she lost to Zeynep Sonmez, Fręch’s performance this year has been strong enough to sustain her ranking climb.

WTA Adjustments Propel Fręch into Top 25

Fręch’s jump in the rankings was further supported by adjustments in the WTA points distribution, as several players lost points from previous season-end tournaments. This shift allowed her to surpass Maria Sakkari and Liudmila Samsonova, solidifying her 22nd spot. The 26-year-old wrapped up her WTA season early, opting out of the Hong Kong tournament and preparing for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga on November 13, where she will represent Poland.

Top WTA Rankings: Sabalenka Leads the Pack

At the top of the WTA leaderboard, Aryna Sabalenka continues to hold the No. 1 position, leading by over 1,000 points ahead of Iga Świątek, with Coco Gauff remaining in third place. While Fręch’s season has concluded, this latest ranking positions her as a promising competitor as she enters the 2024 season.
