Paweł Wąsek Retains Lead in Summer Grand Prix

Paweł Wąsek Takes Lead in Summer Grand Prix Standings

Polish ski jumper Paweł Wąsek maintained his position at the top of the Summer Grand Prix standings after finishing fifth in the Hinzenbach competition. The event was won by Germany’s Andreas Wellinger, with Austria’s Jan Hoerl and Stefan Kraft rounding out the podium. Wąsek’s solid performance means he now holds an 18-point lead over Kraft heading into the final competition in Klingenthal.

Competitive First Round in Austria

The Hinzenbach event, held on one of the smallest hills in the elite circuit, saw a strong start from Polish jumpers. Dawid Kubacki was in third after the first round, jumping 88 meters, closely followed by Wąsek in fourth. However, despite Kubacki’s early success, he finished the competition in sixth place after his final jump of 84 meters fell short of the podium.

Final Showdown in Klingenthal

The final individual competition of the 2024 Summer Grand Prix will take place on October 5 in Klingenthal, Germany. Wąsek will look to secure the overall title, with only 18 points separating him from Kraft and 24 points from Italy’s Alex Insam. A team mixed event will conclude the Grand Prix series the following day.
